3.2 Plan, structure and sequence learning programs
Plan lesson sequences using knowledge of student learning, content and effective teaching strategies.
In my final placement I have worked along side my mentor teacher on a of unit of work in HASS. The learning area was Economics - What is a Business? There was a selected number of students (7) who where not engaged within their allocated learning group, therefore they were removed to work individually in different locations within the school .
I was instructed to plan for these students for 2 - 50 minute periods a week for the remainder of the the four weeks of term.
My mentor teacher outlined what she wanted the students to work on. I planned each weeks work which related to what they were learning whilst they were in their groups. Each week they received a set of questions in which they had to use an ipad or the text handout that I had written up for them to source their information to answer their questions on 'What is a Business?'
Week One - Defining a Business
Week Two -Defining a Business Plan
Week Three - People Buying from your Business
Week Four - Work on a PP presentation an present it to the class in period 2 (HASS)

Part of my planning is to make up sample material of what the learning looks like so students know what is expected. John Hattie explains this well in his how to reach every student in the learning process. His analogy is you dont ask a team of players to go out and and play a game of football without telling them what the rules are or how to score. You should not tell students this is what I expect you to have completed without giving them the guidance, what an A looks waht a B looks like ect. and what the final product looks like.
