About Me
I am Anne M Gunson. I live 305 km from Perth and have lived here for most of my life, apart from when I had finished my nursing training in 1982' I moved around to various places in the state to get some experience outside a teaching hospital. I like to keep my nursing registration current so I have to try and work regularly. I work in a primary school casually and take on casual nursing shifts that fit in to keep my registration current. I think life is full of learning and you can never know to much.
I have also worked for a special education school on contracts and on a casual basis. Previous to this I worked for the RRLSS - (Royal Life Savings Society) of Western Australia, where I have worked on outbound calling with charities in the WA state and nationally in raising money for example Children's Leukemia and Cancer Foundation and Surf Life Saving . In the seven years whilst there I have raised a total of $695 936 and have received the Service Order Medal for outstanding contribution along with other trophies for exceeding sales. I have also worked on the inbound calling area where calls are taken for maintenance and management of building and properties, for example department and housing and the education department maintenance of buildings
I chose to become a teacher as I think children are our future and teachers are one of the many influential people in children's lives. Everything that is significant commences in the early childhood learning years. I want to be a part of the power that drives children to succeed in life so I am getting ready for the challenge however exciting, frightening or overwhelming it may be I welcome it open minded and whole heatedly.

East Manjimup Primary School is set on the outskirts of town near a rural setting with farmland and trees. The school has its original old school building as well as newly appointed ones to cater for the increasing numbers of students. There is an Art room that is attached to one of the new building with its own resources and is available to all students within the school. There is also a new library building which is light and airy with collections of new books. The school has two computer labs and a set of ipads for classroom use.
The vast space in the school grounds consists of one large oval, an oblong sporting ground which is used as the cricket field, an open basket-ball court and a nature play area. The play areas for the lower primary years are positioned at the front of the school along with the Kindergarten area. The school has a communal garden and grassed areas when students can sit in the sunshine, when they have recess and lunch. There is also a forest area where a creek runs and classes have taken turns to attend the area to experience creek play.
The school became an Independent Public School in 2012 and became more flexible developing stronger links with the Senior High School, which developed the teaching and learning programs for their students and community.
The school has a number of programs, Origo for Math and Sound-waves for English. The program is ability focused and caters for the literacy and numeracy needs of each student. Students that require extra support can work at their level.
The school offers music and a second language, Indonesian which all students have access to learning. Students participate in a number of sporting activities athletics, cross country and swimming.
There is a number of gifted and talented programs available for student’s participation
The school is supportive of their students and runs a breakfast program that is run by parents’ volunteers or the school chaplain. I have also seen mentors that support students. There is regular parent support with the educational, sporting and social events that occur throughout the year. The active P&C work hard to make improvements within the school and have raised monies for the classrooms air-conditioning installations, and the new brick paving at the front of the school.
I practiced my teaching with twenty-six students from room thirteen. There were ten year five students and sixteen-year sixes. The twenty-six students (sixteen boys and ten girls) that occupied room thirteen where I practiced my teaching were a lovely bunch of students. They were eager to learn and created some amazing work in Art making hats that were viewed and admired by other classes in the school.

On my prac. I took an art lesson where students ha to design a hat of their choosing, Thay then had to gather the materials provided and create their hat. This a shot taken outside of their classroom. My mentor teacher was really impressed with the quality of the workmanship that we paraded the hats for the school community.
